First-time visit by NIH Director to Eldoret
Earlier this month, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Francis Collins visited Eldoret to tour AMPATH clinic sites and meet with clinicians, students and researchers, making this the first visit by a current NIH director. Collins was accompanied by Roger Glass, Director of NIH Fogarty International Center, and Steve DeCock, Director of the Centers for Disease Control, Kenya.
Roger Glass reported that the delegation was impressed by the visit. He said AMPATH's mission of health equity, access, research, training and community engagement is aligned with the NIH.
